One of the first things I wanted to know when I heard about the raw food diet was which celebrities were raw foodists. At the time, I’d only heard of Demi Moore being on raw food. As I dug, I realized there were far more celebrities on raw food than I thought!
Some raw food celebrities:
- Demi Moore (the actress)
- Alicia Silverstone (the actress)
- Uma Thurman (the actress)
- Lisa Bonet (the actress)
- Woody Harrelson (the actor)
- Robin Williams (the comedian)
- Carol Alt (the model)
- Charlie Trotter (the famous Chicago chef)
- David Bowie (the singer)
- Sting (the singer)
- Beyonce (the singer)
- Donna Karan (the fashion designer)
- Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple - has been raw off and on for decades, sometimes pescatarian)
- Jack Lalanne (the famous fitness intructor/trainer and juicer promoter)
Many celebrities have gone raw from time to time. Not all of these celebrities have stayed true to the raw diet for the long term, some of them simply using the diet as a quick fix to lose weight. Others stick to raw food for a great many years, believing heavily that the raw food diet is the correct diet for humans.
Woody Harrelson, Lisa Bonet, Alicia Silverstone, and Carol Alt are all well-known for being long-term and devoted raw foodists. Steve Jobs started a raw food diet way back in the 70s, living mostly as a fruitarian. He reported named Apple Computer after his favorite food! Steve has since gone back and forth between different forms of a vegetarian diet, from fruitarian to vegan to pescatarian (eating mostly vegetarian with some seafood and fish).
There are also a number of raw food celebrities who are only celebrities in the raw food community:
- Ann Wigmore
- David Wolfe
- Gabriel Cousens, M.D.
- Robert Young, M.D.
Thanks to pioneers like these, we now know of the remarkable benefits of raw foods. These are the true raw celebrities - those who fought valiantly to bring raw food to the populace, and who continue to be in our hearts. Thank you!
