Seldom do we examine how our efforts challenge the mindset of the public toward animals. I strongly believe those of us who only mean the best encourage others to go vegan with the temporary attractiveness of newness or causes which could easily be defeated by food cravings or a lack of enthusiasm. Worse, other vegans are too afraid of appearing forceful and will instead insist the adoption of lo-vegetarian diets are okay too hoping they'll at some point make the leap to veganism even though no one is asking.
